At Good Shepherd Preschool, children who are 3 years old have the option of enrolling in 2-day or 3-day per week classes, or registering for both so they can attend 5-days per week.  These classes are designed for children who are 3 years old on September 30th, with one 2-day class also accepting children who are 3 years old by the end of the calendar year.  For these students, play is their work.  They are learning to socialize and transition from parallel play to cooperative play.  They are developing language, articulation, and communication skills.  They spend time experimenting, problem solving, and learning to express their ideas and needs.

Our 3-year-olds engage in hands on, experiential learning, interacting with materials and exploring the world around them.  They are learning to express their wants and needs, negotiating, and  participating in cooperative play and learning.  They practice fine and gross motor skills and are being introduced to pre-reading and pre-writing skills.

4 & 5 YEAR OLD CLASSES (Pre-K)

  • MOOSE & OWL CLASSES :  Age 4 or 5 by 9/30/2024 ❖ 5 day (M-F) ❖ $550/month

Our Pre-K Classes are designed for 4 & 5-year-olds.  The classes are divided by age.  The goal of our Pre-K classes is kindergarten readiness, as all of the children are kindergarten eligible the following year.  Dividing the classes by age gives our younger 4s the option of moving up to the older class should you wish to give them the gift of another year of preschool.

Our Pre-K Classes continue to learn though play, with a focus on preparing them for the rigors of kindergarten in Fairfax County.  Their learning is filled with excitement, curiosity, and the beginnings of collaboration. They are mastering fine and gross motor skills, learning letters and words, counting, recognizing numbers, patterning, and listening to more complex stories.  Children are encouraged to develop independence, to actively participate in group projects, and to speak up when they need help or have something to share.

All classes meet from 9:15am – 12:15pm

Good Shepherd Preschool welcomes children of any race, religion, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, and activities generally afforded or made available through our program.
